Industrial maintenance technicians maintain all the fixed and mobile equipment in a mining company's facilities. They ensure that the facilities and equipment comply with the standards and the plans drawn up by the company. They are able to identify and analyze operating problems in the equipment and make the necessary repairs, and help optimize existing equipment. They design and implement preventive maintenance programs and coordinate and supervise the company's maintenance activities. They may be responsible for managing and directing a work team that includes millwrights, electricians and welders. They are responsible for updating maintenance logs or computerized systems in order to plan and improve the preventive maintenance program and provide follow-up. They collect and compile operational and maintenance data, and keep an inventory of parts to ensure that they are available when required.
