Dispatchers play a vital role in production, safety and emergency communications on the mine site. They provide overall supervision for communications and worker movement on the site using radios and other telecommunications devices. They act as coordinators, answering emergency calls, dispatching the necessary resources and following the protocol established by the company for the specific problem reported. On a daily basis, they process and forward information and instructions in order to coordinate the activities of vehicle drivers and teams, and movements of material. They dispatch workers based on work schedules and work sheets. Last, they supervise vehicle traffic at the mine using cameras to ensure that all vehicles arrive at their destination.
